What are the causes of neck and shoulder complaints?
In the majority of cases, the cause of neck complaints is often the result of an incorrect posture. This can be at work, by frequently sitting in the same (incorrect) position behind the computer, or by sitting in an incorrect position for too long.

You can strain a neck muscle during sports.
Neck complaints can also be chronic in nature. They then arise from wear and tear of the upper vertebral discs. When the upper vertebral discs wear down, the muscles in the neck area have to work harder and become tired more quickly. Finally, neck complaints can also be the result of long-term stress.

The neck pain is then often accompanied by headaches and other fatigue complaints.
Shoulder complaints (trapezius syndrome, frozen shoulder)
Neck pain and shoulder pain often go together because they are closely connected, partly by the trapezius muscle. Trapezius syndrome is a condition of the trapezius muscle and the area around it. It causes pain and stiffness, whether or not when performing a specific movement.

With a frozen shoulder, literally 'frozen shoulder', there is a restriction of movement of the shoulder joint due to an inflammation of the capsule in the shoulder. As with trapezius syndrome, the cause is often an overload of the shoulder.
